Than has taken an interest in running and biking and swimming. He has participated in triathalons, half marathons, and a 26.2 marathon in Memphis, Tennessee. He ran that one with Shauna. I am glad that he is doing this. I think it is fun for him and I think that it helps him to stay in shape. I think anyone who does a marathon is stupid though....just my opinion. He says that he enjoys the triathalons the most because of the variation between the swimming, biking, and running. I am in awe of anyone who can run or swim, or bike that long. Pretty much I am in awe of anyone in shape, because I am not. Self control, determination, perseverance, and motivation are not my strong suits. So I am in awe of those who are athletic. He ran this half marathon in Chico in March and we went along to watch since it was so close. Here he is getting ready.
He is going to kill me for this one because it shows his hairy stomach. He took off the undershirt because he didn't want to get too hot.
There he is in the crowd giving a thumbs up as they wait for the start. It seemed like it took forever for the race to begin.
Scotty with his really long hair and Pacen waiting at the start. Angelee met up with Erica in the park and hung out and when she saw Scotty's hair, she said to me, "The seventeen hundreds called and they want their hair cut back." Scotty wants his hair long and I don't, so we are trying to compromise. This was at its longest and I just hadn't gotten around to cutting it.
Erica and Gentry waiting for the race to begin and waiting to go to Caper Acres.
Little Missy who never lets me take her picture and will not let me call her "Sunshine Girl." She immediately says, "I not you Sunshine Girl. I mommy's Sunshine Girl." There you have it.
I had to sneak this picture in at Caper Acres.
The two rascals on top of the dragon.
My handsome grandson.
Scotty loves, loves, loves Claira and Gentry. He said on the way to Walnut Creek the other day, "Mom you know who I really love? I love Gentry and Claira. I love Pacen and Camry too, but I really love those two sweet babies." He can be so sweet at times.
Here he is at the finish line high fiving as he runs by. He doesn't even look that tired. He should have pushed himself harder....just kidding Than. He hadn't run much since the December marathon and so he said he would be happy to just make it under two hours. And....
He did it!! Good job Than. It was fun watching him and watching the others too. There is a certain excitement in the air at these races and even though I am not a runner, you can still feel it. After the race we headed to La Comida in Oroville where kids eat free on Saturdays, so Than and Erica love it because they can feed their whole family on under nine dollars. And Walt and I love it because we are just in general cheap people.

Hey Mom, Dumb and Dumber just called and Lloyd wants his haircut back.
The more you run down marathons, the more I want to do another one. Why is it that I like to defy you so much? I don't know.
